How to Disassemble a Trampoline?

Trampolines are a great source of fun both for adults and children. They last for a longer duration and are usually pretty durable.

However, to make them last for an even longer time duration, their maintenance is highly crucial. Unfortunately, sometimes users have to let go of their trampolines just because they are moving out of their homes.

A major reason for this is the inability of most users to disassemble, pack, and transport trampolines.

Undoubtedly, disassembling trampolines is tiring, but if you know the right steps to follow, this task will get much easier for you.

We have compiled a quick and easy guide for you to disassemble a trampoline. Keep reading this guide and explore all the simple steps that will assist you in pulling your trampoline apart.

What do you need to disassemble a trampoline?

Disassembling the trampoline is much more complex than any other technical work you do at home, and it requires a lot of care, caution, and a whole set of tools. Here are some of the things/tools that are needed to dismantle your trampoline finally:

  • Hand Gloves (Double-Layered Work Gloves)
  • Spring Tool
  • A screwdriver
  • A wrench
  • Electric Drill

Steps on How to Disassemble a Trampoline

The steps involved in dismantling your trampoline are as follows:

Step #1: Cleaning the Trampoline

After gathering all the tools, cleaning your trampoline before beginning the disassembling process thoroughly is essential.

Use a garden hose, a water pump, or any other thing you have easy access to for this purpose. Pay special heed to dirty areas like frame, net, etc.

Use a brush to get rid of any remaining dust. Once you are done with cleaning, let the trampoline dry completely before moving to the next step.

Step #2: Removing Safety Net & Poles

The first thing you will need to pull apart is the safety net and the poles holding it. This will enable you to reach the next mat that needs to be disassembled.

Unscrew the clamps holding the poles to remove them and pull them apart. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the nuts holding the net to pull the net off the trampoline.

If some ropes are holding the net, untie them to remove the safety net.

Step #3: Pulling the Safety Pads Apart

Once the net and poles are removed, you can easily remove the safety pads. These pads are usually placed using straps and can be easily removed by simply pulling them off.

However, sometimes these pads have springs attached to them that need to be removed to pull them apart.

Step #4: Removing the Springs

This is the hardest part as springs are a little tricky to remove. Check the condition of the springs first; if they are rusty and have lost all their life, there is no need to store them.

To remove the springs, attach the spring puller to one end, twist the tool using its handle and release the tension on the hook. Repeat this procedure for all the springs and carefully pull all the springs apart.

Step #5: Storing the Mat

The next step is to store the mat properly. For this, it’s crucial to know the right way of folding the trampoline mat. To start:

  • Fold the mat half along its length and the half into another half.
  • Keep doing that until the carpet becomes small enough to fit a container.
  • Keep it in a tight container, so the fold doesn’t open.

Step #6: Disassembling the Frame

After disassembling all the other parts of the trampoline and storing them successfully, it’s time to move to its frame.

If you have sufficient room, keep the frame as it is and transport it to the place you are moving to. However, if the space is limited, dismantle the frame and store all the pieces separately.

To make their assembly easier, ensure to label all the parts before storing them.

Start by unscrewing all the bolts, move to the legs and remove all the parts one after the other. Keep all the nuts and bolts in a separate storage box and the bigger pieces in another bigger one.

Ensure to follow the instructions on the manual while disassembling the trampoline and assembling it again.

How long does it take to disassemble a trampoline?

Disassembling a trampoline is complicated if you are not experienced and have no hands-on experience with tools and gadgets. However, if you follow all the steps carefully and own all the right tools, the whole task will get much easier for you.

It will take 2 to 3 hours to dismantle and store your trampoline. Keep everything safe so you can easily assemble the trampoline back again when needed. Thanks for reading this guide.
