How to Fix a Hole in Trampoline?

Trampolines are the most fun product and can help you maintain your physique and lose all the extra pounds you have. Getting a trampoline for yourself that matches all your needs is an arduous task. But what’s even more complicated?

Maintaining the trampoline. It needs a lot of patience, care, and precaution to take good care of your trampoline so that it remains new for a long time.

However, sometimes, a hole in your trampoline might appear due to some unexpected circumstances, an accident, or any other situation. Being super expensive, the thought of replacing your trampoline with a new one is terrifying.

Unfortunately, just a tiny hole in your trampoline, and it’s gone. However, I have a solution for you. Yes, you read it right! There is no need to spend considerable money on getting a new trampoline, setting it up, and going through the entire process all over again.

Steps to Patch a Hole in Trampoline

I have got five step-by-step methods for you on how to fix a hole in a trampoline.

Trampoline Repair Kit

The first method is the simplest one. For this, you need to get a trampoline repair kit. After this, here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Get two sets of pliers and seek help from a friend or family member.
  • Take a patch and cut it in the shape of a circle. Keep the circle around 2 inches larger than the actual hole in your trampoline.
  • Use a lighter to slightly burn the sides of your circular patch, so it doesn’t fray further.
  • Use a common pin or stitching pin to keep the circle in its place.
  • Using a cross stitch or whip stitch, stitch through the sides of the patch covering the hole.

No-Sew Method

If you are a noob and sewing is not something for you, I have a no-sew method. You need isopropyl alcohol, a patch kit, and a strong adhesive.

  • First, clean the sides of the hole carefully.
  • Cut the patch into a circle, 2 inches wider than the hole.
  • Place the circular patch over the hole on the underside of the jumping mat.
  • Apply the adhesive you have on the top side.
  • Wait for 10 to 12 hours and leave the patch untouched.

Sewing Machine

This method is for sewing experts or people who can handle sewing machines with the heavy motor. For this, you need a sewing machine and a needle that can work on heavy fabrics. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Remove the mat from the trampoline carefully.
  • Set up the machine, place the mat under the needle, and sew over the hole using a strong thread.
  • Use either a zig-zag stitch or cross stitch for this purpose.
  • Repeat the process throughout the hole over and over again.
  • Once done, put the mat back on the trampoline.

Flex Tape Method

The following method is relatively straightforward. For this, all you need is a flex tape and follow the steps below.

  • Take out the flex tape and generously apply it over the hole.
  • Apply the same tape to the downside of the mat.
  • Use a Flex Seal Spray to seal the flex tape to its place firmly.
  • Let the tape dry as per the instructions on the can.

Seek Professional Help

If nothing else works out for you, it’s time for you to seek professional help. Here are the steps you can take for this.

  • Use Google Maps or the internet to search for a trampoline repair center near your home.
  • You can also possibly ship the trampoline to a Trampoline repair shop you know about.
  • Go to the web and choose between the three available options. Select Hole Patch for $25. If the hole is not too big, but if it’s enormous, go for either the Basic Resew for $60 or Complete Rebuild for $85.
  • Request professional help and wait till you get a response.

What are the things to avoid the holes in the trampoline?

Although fixing the hole on your trampoline will solve the problem, you can continue using your trampoline all over again. However, the repaired trampoline is never as good as the new one. That’s why it’s always better to take extra care of your trampoline to avoid such unpleasant situations.

After a lot of research, bearing a lot of myself, and learning from my mistakes and experience, I have compiled a list of all the things you can avoid. Avoiding these things can significantly reduce the risk of getting holes in your trampoline. These include:

  • Remove the mat and store it in a safe place when not in use.
  • Keep using UV protection spray all over your trampoline mat when the weather is a little too drastic.
  • Avoid taking anything with a needle or sharp tip on the mat
  • Keep the mat away from the sand
  • If you notice any rust or over-stretch in the springs, get them replaced immediately.
  • Avoid repairing the mat on your own if it’s way too old
  • Repair the holes as soon as you see them, so they don’t grow further
  • Pay heed to the weight limit of your mat, and don’t go over it
  • Avoid getting more than one person on the mat at once
  • Don’t jump on the mat with your shoes on
